About The Position

The Asset Protection & Safety Associate is a boots-on-the-ground member of Carvana’s Safe & Secure team, responsible for protecting associates, customers, and vehicles while helping keep the site safe and operational. The role includes gate operations, vehicle and inventory tracking, safety monitoring, emergency response, and customer-facing interactions with associates, vendors, and visitors. Team members work outdoors in varying weather conditions and may be assigned to gate coverage, vehicle scanning, safety audits, supply restocking, or other site needs. This hourly position reports to a Safe & Secure Functional Lead or Manager. The schedule is 2:00 p.m.–10:30 p.m., Saturday through Wednesday, with Thursday and Friday off. Open availability is highly preferred. The facility operates 24/7, and gates must be manned at all times.

Requirements

1–2 years of experience in a customer service environment.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Sound decision-making in a complex, fast-moving environment.
Ability to build working relationships and connect with people quickly.
Ability to organize, plan, and execute multiple tasks in a fast-paced setting.
Ability to handle conflict positively and productively.
Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
Must be at least 18 years old.
Must be able to lift up to 60 pounds independently, with most lifting from knee to shoulder height and some lifting from other levels.
Must be able to carry and transport up to 60 pounds for up to 20 feet.
Ability to stand for extended periods and frequently stretch, reach, walk, stoop, push, and pull in environments that may be cold, hot, noisy, or wet, and may contain vehicle-maintenance fumes or odors.
Excellent visual acuity and manual dexterity.
Ability to use required safety equipment, including potentially a face shield or goggles, non-slip shoes, gloves, mask, and other protective garments and equipment.
Frequent driving and computer data entry are required.
Must adhere to regular and predictable attendance.
Must pass a complete background check.

Nice To Haves

Familiarity with CCTV, RFID, card access, or other Safe & Secure technology.
Previous experience supporting an OSHA or safety team program.
Experience with crisis prevention and/or response plans.

Responsibilities

Provide service-first interactions and represent Carvana at the gate for associates, vendors, and visitors.
Monitor live cameras, review footage, and investigate intrusion alerts using the Unified Security Platform.
Operate the gate using the Safe & Secure App and RFID technology, enforcing ingress and egress procedures.
Manage and document vehicle movement through Inspection Center entrance and exit gates.
Obtain first aid, CPR, and AED training and certification, and use those skills when needed.
Know and follow emergency protocols and respond decisively during emergencies.
Support site operations in all weather, including snow removal and summer heat-safety protocols.
Identify environmental hazards, conduct safety audits, and reinforce safety practices.
Scan vehicles using mobile rover technology and manual handheld scanners to support operational flow and account for vehicles.
Walk the lot, including restricted or hard-to-access areas.
Research vehicle locations and provide accurate, detailed reports to leadership.
Build relationships with on-site teams and communicate operational information to Safe & Secure leadership.
De-escalate conflict and work collaboratively with partners.
