About The Position

As an Asset Protection Officer at Macy’s, you are a visible and welcoming presence who helps create a safe, secure, and service-focused shopping environment. Stationed at store entrances, high-traffic areas, and high-shortage locations, you help deter theft, identify potential risks, support customer and colleague safety, and partner with store teams to deliver a positive experience. This entry-level role combines customer service with asset protection, safety support, incident response, and shortage reduction. You will greet customers, maintain a visible presence, assist with apprehensions under the direction of Asset Protection Leaders, Captains, or Detectives, document incidents, conduct operational audits, and complete assigned Asset Protection tasks. You will follow company policies and legal standards, respond to medical situations, help facilitate basic first aid, and provide testimony in legal proceedings as needed. The role requires regular, dependable attendance and flexible availability for days, evenings, weekends, and holidays. Full-time colleagues are typically scheduled to work 30 or more hours per week; hours depend on business needs and colleague availability.

Close vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.

Responsibilities

Document theft, accidents, audits, and other incidents accurately and promptly.
Conduct operational audits and complete assigned Asset Protection tasks.
Follow company policies and legal standards related to apprehensions, searches, evidence handling, and confidential information.
Help facilitate basic first aid for customers and colleagues.
Provide testimony in criminal or civil legal proceedings, as needed.
Use technology and two-way communication devices to stay connected and support timely response.
