As an Asset Protection Officer, you provide a visible, welcoming presence that helps create a safe, secure, and service-focused shopping environment. Positioned at store entrances, high-traffic areas, and high-shortage locations, you help deter theft, identify potential risks, support customer and colleague safety, and partner with store teams to deliver a positive experience. The role combines customer service and security responsibilities, including responding professionally to incidents and assisting with safety needs. You will use technology and two-way communication devices to stay connected, document incidents, conduct operational audits, and complete assigned Asset Protection tasks. You may assist with apprehensions under the direction of Asset Protection leaders, Captains, or Detectives, and provide testimony in legal proceedings as needed. The position requires flexible availability for days, evenings, weekends, and holidays. Full-time colleagues are typically scheduled to work 30 or more hours per week, with actual hours dependent on business needs and availability. The role involves prolonged standing and walking, sometimes working for extended periods in enclosed surveillance areas, and frequently lifting or moving up to 30 pounds. It may also involve reaching above eye level, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and apprehending shoplifters. Macy’s describes its workplace as dynamic and inclusive and offers competitive pay and benefits, including health and wellness coverage, a 401(k) match, paid time off, paid holidays, learning and leadership development, colleague resource groups, and volunteer opportunities.
