About The Position

The Asset Protection Associate is a highly visible store loss-prevention role focused on protecting company assets and reducing theft. The position requires integrity, a positive attitude, attention to detail, and customer-service skills. The associate observes activity on the sales floor, communicates concerns to managers, supports store procedures for checking associates’ belongings, and interacts with customers as they leave. The role also includes confronting customers observed concealing merchandise and providing police with detailed information about theft incidents. The associate helps protect financial information and company assets by supporting effective internal controls and reporting potential fraud risks to management or appropriate officials.

Requirements

• Positive customer-service skills for interacting with store personnel and customers.
• Ability to communicate verbally and in writing across all levels of the organization, internally and externally.
• Attention to detail, time-management skills, and ability to multitask.
• Ability to stand for the entire shift; sitting is not permitted while observing.

Responsibilities

• Maintain awareness of the sales floor and observe behavior or body language that may indicate possible theft.
• Communicate suspicious behavior to managers.
• Work with managers to ensure associates’ personal belongings are checked before they leave the store.
• Thank customers as they leave and invite them to return.
• Stop and confront customers observed concealing merchandise.
• Provide police with detailed information about people who have stolen merchandise.
• Protect company assets and financial information by ensuring the accuracy and effectiveness of internal control procedures.
• Inform management and/or appropriate officials of potential fraud risks.
