About The Position

The Sioux Falls Police Department is offering a 10-week, full-time law enforcement internship for Summer 2027. The start date is flexible within late May or early June 2027, and the department will try to accommodate interns’ schedules throughout the summer.

Interns will participate in activities across various areas of the department, which may include Investigative Services, Traffic, Patrol, School/Community Resource Officers, the Crime Lab, K9, and Training. They will also assist with community events such as National Night Out, Coffee with a Cop, and the SFPD Citizen’s Police Academy.

Requirements

• Be currently enrolled in an accredited college or university.
• Have a GPA of 2.5 or above.
• Students in a four-year program must have completed at least their second year by credits; students in a two-year program may be in their first or second year.
• Pass preemployment screenings, which may include a drug screen and background check. The screening process may include application review, a hiring interview, and a criminal background check.

Responsibilities
