About The Position

Clovis Community College is seeking to establish a part-time faculty pool for Art Instructors. This role involves teaching art courses and supporting student success within a diverse community college environment. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a commitment to equity-minded practices and possess the skills to engage and support students from various backgrounds.

Requirements

  • Responsiveness to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.
  • Commitment to equity-minded practice within the classroom.
  • Master's in fine arts, art, or art history; OR Bachelor's in any of the above and Master's in humanities; OR A valid California Community College Credential; OR The equivalent education and/or experience.
  • Ability to work with computers and other technologies for instruction and support.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with students and staff.
  • Knowledge of current assessment methods and materials.
  • Knowledge of the community college and its mission and goals.

Nice To Haves

  • Recent experience working with African American, Asian/Pacific Islander, Latinx, Native American, and other racially minoritized students in the classroom.
  • Understanding of how historical patterns of exclusion shape participation and outcomes for minoritized students.
  • Willingness to examine and remediate instructional, relational, and classroom practices to better engage and support minoritized students.
  • Related work and professional experience.
  • Experience working with students of various cultural, gender, age, socioeconomic, and ethnic backgrounds, and students with disabilities.
  • Experience working with traditionally underrepresented student populations, such as students of color and foster youth.
  • Ability to support students across sociocultural and socioeconomic diversities.
  • Experience with, and sensitivity to, under-prepared and high-need students at the community college.
  • Demonstrated ability and desire to work collaboratively with faculty and staff.
  • Experience in facilitating multicultural and cross-cultural communication.
