About The Position

Ware Malcomb is seeking a Technical Specifications Writer to develop comprehensive project manuals for Architecture and/or Interior Design projects. The writer will collaborate with project teams to develop specifications and client-specific master specifications, and support project teams with submittal review. Expertise in building materials, codes, and industry standards will contribute to the quality and consistency of projects firmwide.

This is a full-time, long-term position at Ware Malcomb, a commercial real estate design firm providing architecture, interior design, civil engineering, branding, building measurement, structural engineering, and MEP engineering services.

Requirements

• Extensive experience in construction and construction materials.
• Strong computer, written, and verbal communication skills.

Nice To Haves

• Equivalent of a bachelor’s degree in Architecture or Interior Design.
• At least 15 years of experience in Architecture or Interior Design, including at least 5 years of specification-writing experience.
• Experience using MasterSpec, Bluebeam, Microsoft Word, and Excel.
• Ability to speak publicly in front of small to large groups.

Responsibilities

• Prepare comprehensive project manuals based on information provided by Management Teams.
• Suggest alternate solutions when necessary.
• Schedule periodic reviews during document development for complex projects.
• Review comments with the Management Team and respond to questions or concerns.
• Mentor junior staff members.
• Stay knowledgeable about products, industry standards, and trends.
• Serve as a general resource to the company by answering technical questions and providing opinions.
• Collaborate with project teams to develop specifications and client-specific masters, and support submittal review.
