About The Position

Ware Malcomb is hiring a full-time, long-term Architectural Specification Writer to develop comprehensive project manuals for Architecture and/or Interior Design projects. The role works with project teams to prepare specifications and client-specific master documents, and to support project teams with submittal review. The writer applies expertise in building materials, codes, and industry standards to help ensure the quality and consistency of projects firmwide. The position also serves as a technical resource to the company and includes mentoring junior staff.

Requirements

• Strong computer skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Extensive experience in construction and construction materials.

Nice To Haves

• Equivalent of a bachelor’s degree in Architecture or Interior Design.
• At least 15 years of experience in Architecture or Interior Design, including at least 5 years of writing specifications.
• Experience using MasterSpec, Bluebeam, Microsoft Word, and Excel.
• Ability to speak publicly in front of small to large groups.

Responsibilities

• Prepare comprehensive project manuals based on information provided by Management Teams.
• Suggest alternate solutions when necessary.
• Schedule periodic document reviews for complex projects.
• Review comments with the Management Team and respond to questions or concerns.
• Take a mentorship approach when working with junior staff members.
• Stay knowledgeable about products, industry standards, and trends.
• Serve as a general company resource by answering technical questions or providing opinions.
• Collaborate with project teams on specifications and client-specific masters, and support project teams with submittal review.
