Architectural Specification Writer
About The Position
Ware Malcomb is seeking a Technical Specifications Writer to develop comprehensive project manuals for Architecture and/or Interior Design projects. The writer will collaborate with project teams to develop specifications and client-specific masters, and support project teams with submittal review. Knowledge of building materials, codes, and industry standards will help shape the quality and consistency of projects firmwide. This is a full-time, long-term position. Ware Malcomb is a commercial real estate design firm providing architecture, interior design, civil engineering, branding, building measurement, structural engineering, and MEP engineering services. The firm serves clients throughout the world and has office locations in the United States, Canada, Mexico, and Brazil.
Requirements
- Preferred equivalent of a bachelor's degree in Architecture or Interior Design.
- Preferred minimum of 15 years of experience in Architecture or Interior Design, including at least 5 years writing specifications.
- Strong computer, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Extensive experience in construction and construction materials.
Nice To Haves
- Experience using MasterSpec, Bluebeam, Microsoft Word, and Excel.
- Ability to speak publicly in front of small to large groups.
Responsibilities
- Prepare comprehensive project manuals based on information provided by Management Teams.
- Suggest alternate solutions when necessary.
- Schedule periodic document-development reviews for complex projects.
- Review comments with the Management Team and respond to questions or concerns.
- Mentor junior staff members.
- Stay knowledgeable about products, industry standards, and trends.
- Serve as a general company resource by answering technical questions and providing opinions.
- Collaborate with project teams to develop specifications and client-specific masters and support submittal review.
