About The Position

Ware Malcomb is seeking a Technical Specifications Writer to develop comprehensive project manuals for Architecture and/or Interior Design projects. The role collaborates with project teams to develop specifications and client-specific masters, and supports teams with submittal review. Knowledge of building materials, codes, and industry standards will help shape the quality and consistency of projects firmwide. This is a full-time, long-term position.

Requirements

• Strong computer skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Extensive experience in construction and construction materials.

Nice To Haves

• Equivalent of a bachelor’s degree in Architecture or Interior Design.
• At least 15 years of experience in Architecture or Interior Design, including at least 5 years of writing specifications.
• Experience using MasterSpec, Bluebeam, Microsoft Word, and Excel.
• Ability to speak publicly in front of small to large groups.

Responsibilities

• Prepare comprehensive project manuals based on information provided by Management Teams.
• Suggest alternate solutions when necessary.
• Schedule periodic document-development reviews for complex projects.
• Review comments with the Management Team and respond to questions or concerns.
• Mentor junior staff members.
• Stay knowledgeable about products, industry standards, and trends.
• Answer technical questions and provide opinions as a general resource to the company.
