About The Position

The Apprentice Optician drives profitable sales growth and attracts and retains guests by delivering exceptional guest service. The role helps create a positive, productive retail-selling environment that supports guest service and retention, as well as satisfaction among the Optical Team and doctors. The position includes optical tasks such as interpreting prescriptions, measuring and fitting eyewear, dispensing contact lenses, and ensuring quality product fabrication and dispensing within state guidelines.

Requirements

High school degree or equivalent.
Actively enrolled in a state-approved Optician Apprentice program.
At least 2 years of experience in a retail or customer service position.
Basic computer skills.
Independent and self-motivated.
Ability to grow sales through sales skills.
Enthusiastic and concise communication.
Attention to detail.

Responsibilities

Drive profitable store sales by fostering a retail-selling culture and practicing and role-playing effective retail sales skills.
Develop professional business relationships with other Team Members.
Verify visual acuity.
Analyze and interpret prescriptions and lens design.
Measure pupillary distances and bifocal, trifocal, and progressive placement.
Select and measure frames for facial contour, eye size, bridge size, and temple length.
Fit and adjust eyewear to the face and eyes.
Dispense contact lenses.
Fill ophthalmic eyeglass prescriptions and fit and adapt lenses and frames using optical prescriptions within state-established guidelines.
Ensure high-quality and timely product manufacturing and fabrication.
Dispense quality products within state-established guidelines.
