About The Position

The N.C. Department of Information Technology (NCDIT) serves as the Technology Center for the State of NC, providing technology services to state and local government agencies, as well as schools, colleges, and universities. NCDIT's mission is to enable trusted business-driven solutions that meet the needs of North Carolinians and to close the digital divide by expanding broadband services. This position is designated Statutory Exempt (EHRA) and is exempt from the State Human Resources Act. It is part of the Early Career Associate Program, a two-year on-the-job training program designed for individuals with three years or less of professional experience, offering broad exposure to state IT operations. After the program, participants may have the opportunity to be placed in a permanent role. The GIS System Engineer participates in the day-to-day maintenance of the enterprise GIS server environment, which comprises over 270 servers.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in computer science or an IT related field from an appropriately accredited institution OR Associate degree in computer science or an IT related field or related technical degree from an appropriately accredited institution and one year of experience in business application consulting or development OR High School or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and four years of experience in business application consulting or development; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
