About The Position

Under the minimal supervision of the Applications Systems Supervisor, the Application Analyst II participates as a project team member in systems design, enhancement, and program development for user areas in new or existing production systems. The role handles fairly complex analytical and programming tasks, including designing, coding, and documenting programs and preparing interfaces between related programs or systems.

The analyst supports Epic Interactive Solutions workflows, including ambulatory telehealth workflows, MyChart, Care Everywhere/TEFCA, Epic Care Link, Epic Mobile, Hello World, patient notifications, integrations, and compliance requirements. The position also provides user assistance and education throughout project planning and development and supports positive working relationships within the department and the Hospital's Customer Relation program.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related discipline, or technical training and work-related experience, including coursework in systems analysis and design, DBMS, screen design techniques, forms design, data gathering, and oral and written communication.
• Five years of experience in a variety of programming and analytical activities.
• At least one year of analytical experience.
• Experience in online, real-time, and database environments.
• Experience with EPIC is required.
• Strong organizational and analytical skills.
• Valid Connecticut driver's license to travel to YNHHS hospitals and practices for support as required.

Nice To Haves

• EPIC Certification is preferred.
• Knowledge of database concepts, project management, and system implementation is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Evaluates requests and performs comprehensive analysis for systems development and enhancement.
• Develops project plans by defining phase content and estimating time and resource requirements.
• Conducts needs-analysis studies, evaluating current user and computer environments through observation, interviews, and review of existing systems documentation, manuals, and forms.
• Works with users to define and document current and future business needs.
• Conducts feasibility and cost-benefit studies.
• Documents general and specific design specifications and participates with users in designing production and conversion plans for transitions to new environments.
• Assists in designing input and output formats, screens, and reports.
• Designs automated and manual interfaces between user systems.
• Develops test data and test protocols.
• Develops implementation plans and supports implementation.
• Develops user and MIS procedure manuals.
• Monitors progress against plans and provides management reports as required.
• Assists the Systems Supervisor in planning maintenance and development of assigned systems.
• Assists the Systems Supervisor in maintaining effective communication with system users and providing assistance and education throughout project planning and development.
• Analyzes and evaluates outside software and assists in preparing acquisition recommendations.
• Participates in defining the nature and scope of project activities and processes to be developed or modified, and recommends technical approaches to systems and complex-program development.
• Translates program specifications, flow charts, and decision tables into computer instructions or code for highly complex programs.
• Specifies and arranges test data and coordinates test processing for newly developed systems under the general direction of the Applications Systems Supervisor.
• Troubleshoots programs and systems by isolating and correcting testing errors.
• Develops or assists in developing highly complex programming routines, programs, and functions according to detailed designs and user needs.
• Evaluates program efficiency by assisting with performance analysis and determining the accuracy of results.
• Oversees or develops procedural technical manuals.
• Performs duties in conformance with MIS standards and may initiate standards.
• Performs duties in a manner that supports the Hospital's Customer Relation program and promotes constructive working relationships within the department.
• Performs other job-related duties as required.
• Travels to YNHHS hospitals or practices for support as required.
