About The Position

The Apparel Lead oversees the apparel department to provide excellent customer service, drive sales, manage inventory and merchandising, and execute seasonal strategies that support financial goals. The role has no direct supervisory responsibilities but supports business performance and enhances the Member experience. The Apparel Lead serves as a subject matter expert on visual merchandising and presentation standards, and trains, influences, motivates, and supports the apparel team. The position also maintains club policies and procedures, may perform duties in other departments as needed, and requires regular, predictable, full attendance.

Requirements

• Minimum 2–3 years of retail experience, preferably in soft lines, apparel, or fashion.
• Task-oriented, reliable, and goal-setting approach to work.
• Demonstrated experience providing excellent customer service and resolving customer issues.
• Familiarity with merchandising principles and experience executing planograms.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain high standards of presentation and cleanliness.
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as needed.
• Frequent standing and movement on hard surfaces.
• Regular lifting of up to 50 pounds; occasional heavier lifting with assistance.

Responsibilities

• Greet and assist members, answer questions, and help ensure a positive shopping experience.
• Monitor inventory, conduct stock checks, coordinate product availability with Club Leadership, organize backstock, and manage clearance, salvage, and markdown execution.
• Implement planograms and visual merchandising standards; keep apparel displays attractive, organized, stocked, and correctly presented.
• Maintain apparel presentation and cleanliness in accordance with BJ’s Gold Standards and current company expectations.
• Set up and maintain HVS and apparel tables and displays according to current planogram guidelines; ensure products are correctly placed and signed accurately.
• Ensure promotional events and signage are visible, accurate, and executed on time.
• Follow company policies, procedures, and safety standards.
• Train, influence, motivate, and support the apparel team in achieving sales goals and maintaining performance standards.
• Share feedback and communicate ways to improve the Member experience and overall business.
• Maintain club policies and procedures and perform other assigned duties, including work in other departments as needed.
• Maintain regular, predictable, full attendance.
