About The Position

The APC Service Line Lead for Neuro/Pain serves as the designated Advanced Practice Clinician (APC) leader for the service line. Reporting to the Director of Advanced Practice and partnering with the Neuro/Pain Service Line Physician Chair, operational leaders, and other stakeholders, the Lead provides strategic, operational, and professional leadership for APC practice, including supervisory oversight in collaboration with operational leadership. The role advances an integrated advanced practice model by promoting practice excellence and standardization, optimizing scope and utilization, enhancing access and capacity, developing APC leaders, and serving as a liaison between APCs and organizational leadership. The Lead supports service-line goals, workforce initiatives, clinical practice models, quality improvement, provider engagement, and professional development. Responsibilities include participating in recruitment, onboarding, performance management, employee engagement, coaching, professional development, succession planning, and retention. The Lead collaborates with operational leadership on evaluations, goal setting, recognition, performance improvement plans, and other personnel matters. This is an internal leadership appointment available exclusively to full-time SWBMG APCs currently practicing within the organization. The selected Lead maintains a 0.7 FTE clinical practice in their specialty and receives 0.3 FTE protected time for leadership and administrative responsibilities. The appointment is a two-year, term-limited carve-out from the APC’s existing position, with no additional compensation or change in employment status. Clinical expectations are adjusted as determined by service-line leadership. The appointment may be renewed based on performance, goals, organizational priorities, and leadership needs. If the appointment ends or is not renewed, the APC returns to their regular clinical position and applicable clinical expectations and compensation structure. The Lead establishes annual goals with the Director of Advanced Practice and service-line leadership. Performance is reviewed regularly and may be assessed through goal achievement, service-line outcomes, leadership effectiveness, APC engagement, workforce initiatives, quality metrics, and progress toward strategic objectives. The role is intended to build leadership capability and succession for future advanced practice leadership positions while the Lead maintains active clinical practice. The Lead continues practicing in their specialty under applicable supervisory and collaborative practice requirements and collaborates with interdisciplinary teams, Sutter Pacific Medical Foundation leadership, and California Pacific Medical Center Operations. Required licensure, certifications, credentials, and clinical qualifications must be maintained.
