About The Position

The APC Service Line Lead for Primary Care serves as the designated Advanced Practice Clinician (APC) leader for the service line, providing strategic, operational, and professional leadership and supervisory oversight of APCs in collaboration with operational leadership. The role reports to the Director of Advanced Practice and works closely with the Primary Care Service Line Physician Chair, operational leaders, APCs, and other stakeholders. The Lead advances an integrated advanced practice model by promoting practice excellence, standardization, scope-of-practice optimization, access and capacity, workforce strategy, leadership development, and communication between APCs and organizational leadership. The role contributes to service-line goals, workforce initiatives, clinical practice models, quality improvement, provider engagement, and professional development. Leadership activities include recruitment, onboarding, performance management, employee engagement, coaching, development, succession planning, and retention, in partnership with operational leadership. The appointee maintains a 0.5 FTE clinical practice within their specialty and receives 0.5 FTE protected time for leadership and administrative responsibilities. This is an internal leadership appointment available exclusively to full-time SWBMG APCs currently practicing within the organization. It is a two-year, term-limited appointment that may be renewed based on performance, goal achievement, organizational priorities, and leadership needs. It does not include additional compensation or a change in employment status; clinical expectations are adjusted as determined by service-line leadership. The APC Service Line Lead reports to the Director of Advanced Practice and continues clinical practice under the supervisory and collaborative practice requirements applicable to their profession and specialty. The Lead collaborates with interdisciplinary teams, SPMF leadership, and CPMC Operations, and must maintain the licensure, certifications, credentials, and clinical qualifications required for practice. Annual goals are established with the Director of Advanced Practice and service-line leadership, with progress reviewed regularly. Performance is evaluated based on goals, service-line outcomes, leadership effectiveness, APC engagement, workforce initiatives, quality metrics, and progress toward strategic objectives. If the appointment ends or is not renewed, the APC returns to their regular clinical position in Primary Care and resumes the standard expectations, responsibilities, and compensation structure for that position.
