About The Position

The APC Service Line Lead for Medical Specialties serves as the designated Advanced Practice Clinician (APC) leader for the service line. Reporting to the Director of Advanced Practice and partnering with the Medical Specialties Service Line Physician Chair, operational leaders, and other stakeholders, the lead provides strategic, operational, and professional leadership for APC practice, along with supervisory oversight in collaboration with operational leadership. The position advances an integrated, high-performing advanced practice model by promoting practice excellence and standardization, optimizing scope and utilization, improving access and capacity, developing future APC leaders, and connecting APCs with organizational leadership. The lead collaborates on service-line goals, workforce initiatives, clinical practice models, quality improvement, provider engagement, and professional development. The role includes leadership in recruitment, onboarding, performance management, engagement, coaching, professional development, succession planning, and retention. The lead maintains a 0.7 FTE clinical practice within their specialty and receives 0.3 FTE protected time for leadership and administrative work. This is an internal, term-limited appointment available exclusively to full-time SWBMG APCs currently practicing within the organization. It is a two-year appointment, potentially renewable based on performance, goals, organizational priorities, and leadership needs. It does not include additional compensation or a change in employment status. Clinical expectations are adjusted as determined by service-line leadership. The lead establishes annual goals with the Director of Advanced Practice and service-line leadership. Performance is evaluated based on goal achievement, service-line outcomes, leadership effectiveness, APC engagement, workforce initiatives, quality metrics, and progress toward strategic objectives. If the appointment ends or is not renewed, the APC returns to their regular clinical position and its standard expectations and compensation structure. The lead maintains the licensure, certifications, credentials, and clinical qualifications required for practice in their specialty and collaborates with interdisciplinary teams, SPMF leadership, and CPMC Operations. The role is based in the San Francisco area. The organization describes SWBMG as a multi-specialty medical group of nearly 500 clinicians serving the greater San Francisco area.
