About The Position

The APC Service Line Lead for Primary Care is the designated Advanced Practice Clinician (APC) leader for the Primary Care service line. Reporting to the Director of Advanced Practice and partnering with the Primary Care Service Line Physician Chair, operational leaders, and other stakeholders, the Lead provides strategic, operational, and professional leadership for APC practice and supervisory oversight in collaboration with operational leadership. The role advances an integrated advanced practice model through practice excellence and standardization, scope-of-practice optimization, improved access and capacity, workforce development, and engagement with organizational leadership. The Lead contributes to service-line goals, workforce initiatives, clinical practice models, quality improvement, provider engagement, and professional development. Responsibilities include supporting recruitment, onboarding, performance management, coaching, goal setting, professional development, succession planning, and retention. The position combines 0.5 FTE clinical practice within the Lead’s specialty with 0.5 FTE protected for leadership and administrative responsibilities. It is an internal, term-limited leadership appointment available exclusively to full-time SWBMG APCs currently practicing within the organization; it does not change employment status or provide additional compensation. The anticipated appointment term is two years, with possible renewal based on performance, goals, organizational priorities, and leadership needs. Clinical expectations are adjusted as determined by service-line leadership. If the appointment ends or is not renewed, the APC returns to their regular clinical position and its standard expectations and compensation structure. The Lead collaborates with interdisciplinary teams, Sutter Pacific Medical Foundation leadership, and California Pacific Medical Center Operations, and continues clinical practice under applicable supervisory and collaborative practice requirements. The Lead must maintain the licensure, certifications, credentials, and clinical qualifications required for practice in their specialty and service line. Annual goals are established with the Director of Advanced Practice and service-line leadership, with progress reviewed regularly.
