About The Position

Top Score Education is seeking a part-time, one-to-one, in-home high school tutor in Northern Virginia, Washington, DC, or Maryland. The role focuses on tutoring AP US History; experience with AP World History or AP European History is an advantage. Tutors provide academic planning and instruction through private lessons in students’ homes and maintain positive, consistent communication with students and their parents. Lessons are 60–120 minutes and may take place on weekday evenings or weekends. The position requires at least eight teaching hours per week and access to a car, with willingness to drive up to 30 minutes to lessons. The starting pay range is $45–$65 per hour, with experienced tutors able to earn up to $80 per hour.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree.
• At least eight teaching hours of weekly availability.
• Flexibility to work evenings and weekends.
• Consistent access to a car and willingness to drive up to 30 minutes to a lesson.
• Strong organization, time management, and attention to detail, with the ability to follow processes.
• Fast, consistent, and direct communication.
• Commitment to positive relationships with client families and ongoing student, tutor, and team collaboration.

Nice To Haves

• Experience tutoring or teaching AP US History.
• Experience teaching AP World History or AP European History.
• Broad instructional experience in high school history and English.
• Current or former AP US History classroom teachers are highly encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities
