Animal Care Attendant-1
About The Position
Destination Pet is seeking an Animal Care Attendant to care for pets at one of its centers. The role involves hands-on animal care and cleaning, including maintaining sanitary enclosures and play areas, providing meals and fresh water, monitoring pets’ health and behavior, supervising play, and assisting with brushing and bathing. The position also handles laundry and pets’ belongings and reports unusual observations to the General Manager or Assistant Manager. The work is physically active and involves exposure to cleaning supplies, pet hair, and animal waste. Pay starts at $11.00–$14.00 per hour, depending on experience, plus tips.
Requirements
- A strong love for animals.
- Maintain a cool, calm, and professional demeanor.
- Be willing to perform hands-on work that may involve getting dirty.
- Be able to lift up to 40 pounds.
- Be able to remain on their feet for the duration of the shift.
- Be able to stand, walk, and climb stairs frequently.
- Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Nice To Haves
- Prior kennel or animal care experience.
Responsibilities
- Keep pet enclosures and play areas clean, safe, and sanitized.
- Serve meals and provide fresh water to pets.
- Monitor each pet guest’s health and well-being, including elimination.
- Report anything unusual to the General Manager or Assistant Manager.
- Supervise pets during playtime.
- Assist with brushing and bathing.
- Handle laundry and pets’ belongings.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
