Animal Care Attendant
About The Position
Destination Pet is hiring an Animal Care Attendant at Westcott Acres to care for pets in its pet care center. The role involves maintaining clean, safe, and sanitized enclosures and play areas; providing meals and fresh water; monitoring each guest’s health and behavior; supervising play; and assisting with brushing, bathing, laundry, and pet belongings. The position is hands-on and physically active, with exposure to cleaning supplies, pet hair, and animal accidents. Prior kennel or animal care experience is a plus, but applicants who are new to the field and eager to learn are welcome. The role reports to the General Manager.
Requirements
- A strong interest in and love for animals.
- A calm and professional demeanor.
- Willingness to perform hands-on work, including cleaning.
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.
- Ability to remain on your feet for the duration of a shift and frequently stand, walk, and climb stairs.
- Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Nice To Haves
- Prior kennel or animal care experience.
Responsibilities
- Keep pet enclosures and play areas clean, safe, and sanitized.
- Provide pets with meals and fresh water.
- Monitor the health and well-being of pet guests and report unusual observations to the General Manager or Assistant Manager.
- Supervise pets during playtime.
- Assist with brushing and bathing.
- Handle laundry and pet belongings.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
