About The Position
Destination Pet is hiring an Animal Care Attendant at Pet Me Scratch Me Onalaska. The role involves hands-on care for pets in a pet care center, including maintaining clean and safe spaces, providing meals and fresh water, monitoring pets’ health and behavior, supervising play, and assisting with grooming-related tasks. The work is physically active and includes exposure to cleaning supplies, pet hair, and animal accidents. Prior kennel or animal care experience is a plus, but the employer welcomes applicants who are new to the field and eager to learn.
Requirements
- A strong love for animals.
- A calm and professional demeanor.
- Willingness to perform hands-on work and get dirty.
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.
- Ability to remain on their feet for the duration of a shift.
- Ability to stand, walk, and climb stairs frequently.
- Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Nice To Haves
- Prior kennel or animal care experience.
Responsibilities
- Keep pet enclosures and play areas clean, safe, and sanitized.
- Serve meals and provide fresh water to pets.
- Monitor each pet guest’s health and well-being, including observing elimination habits.
- Report unusual observations to the General Manager or Assistant Manager.
- Supervise pets during playtime and activities.
- Assist with brushing and bathing.
- Handle laundry and pets’ belongings to keep them clean.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
