About The Position

Destination Pet is hiring an Animal Care Attendant at Westcott Acres to provide hands-on care for pets in its pet care center. The role involves keeping pets comfortable and safe while supporting day care, boarding, grooming, and related services. It is physically active work involving standing, walking, and climbing stairs throughout shifts, lifting up to 40 pounds, and exposure to cleaning supplies, pet hair, and animal accidents. Evening, weekend, and holiday availability is required. The Animal Care Attendant reports to the General Manager and works with the General or Assistant Manager to maintain the health, safety, and well-being of pet guests. Prior kennel or animal care experience is a plus, but candidates who are new to the field and eager to learn are welcome.

Requirements

Strong love of animals.
Maintain a calm and professional demeanor.
Willingness to perform hands-on work and get dirty.
Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.
Ability to remain on feet for the duration of a shift.
Ability to stand, walk, and climb stairs frequently.
Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays; weekends and holidays are specifically required.

Prior kennel or animal care experience.

Responsibilities

Keep pet enclosures and play areas clean, safe, and sanitized.
Serve pets meals and provide fresh water.
Monitor each pet guest’s health and well-being, including observing and reporting bathroom habits.
Report unusual observations to the General Manager or Assistant Manager.
Supervise pets during playtime and activities such as fetch.
Assist with brushing and bathing.
Handle laundry and pet belongings to ensure pets have clean items.
Perform other duties as assigned.
