About The Position

This role works with the Corps/Area Command Officer and Development department to communicate with donors and volunteers about adopting Angels, their needs, and assessments. The coordinator ensures all information and necessary items for the adoption of Angels are handled efficiently for gift pick-up and return. They manage the Angel Tree Program by recruiting, training, and coordinating volunteers to meet program needs, and prepare records and reports for the program. The position involves interviewing, recruiting, screening, and selecting volunteers, posting volunteer listings at Malls to ensure continuous staffing, and maintaining current volunteer contact information. The coordinator is responsible for filling time slots by calling and recruiting volunteers, reviewing previous lists, and finding replacements. They maintain statistics, placement, and follow-up for all Angels at various locations. Communication with donors about adopting Angels and assisting in assigning Angels to donors in TSAMM are key duties. The role also coordinates and manages the preparation of Angel orders for donors and communicates/coordinates the pick-up of these orders. Assisting with client interviewing and database entry, and with an appreciation program for employees and volunteers at the end of the season are also part of the responsibilities. The coordinator contacts Corporate Sponsors regarding their angel requirements, prepares materials, and delivers angels. They answer telephone calls politely, obtain necessary information, and provide accurate details about the Christmas Angel Tree Programs. Compiling information for booklets, kits, and notebooks for meetings and recruitment, and evaluating and reporting on the program's success at the end of the season are also required.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or G.E.D.
  • Ability to meet attendance requirements.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language.
  • Ability to sort and file documents alphabetically and numerically.
  • Ability to operate various general office equipment including a telephone, typewriter, and computer.
  • Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail with constant breaks in concentration associated with answering phones or speaking in person to clients requiring assistance.
  • Ability to perform all duties with an understanding of the mission, ministry, philosophy, culture, and protocol of The Salvation Army and conducts all duties in accordance with the ministry of the organization and its Christian principles; conducts all communications and job duties with the highest level of professionalism.
  • Valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

  • Assists with Client Interviewing/Database entry.
  • Assists with an Appreciation Program for the Christmas Angel Tree Program employees and volunteers.
  • Contacts Corporate Sponsors on the number of angels they require, preparing materials and angels for delivery.
  • Answers all telephone calls in a polite and courteous manner, obtaining answers from appropriate personnel if the answer is not known.
  • Provides accurate and complete information about Christmas Angel Tree Programs.
  • Compiles information for booklets, kits, notebooks for meetings and recruitment.
  • Evaluates and provides a report of the success of the Christmas Angel Tree Program at the end of the season.
