About The Position

The Angel Tree Coordinator will work with Corps/Area Command Officer and Development department to communicate with donors and volunteers regarding the adoption of Angels. This role ensures all necessary information and items for the adoption of Angels are handled efficiently for gift pick-up and return. The coordinator manages the Angel Tree Program, including recruiting, training, and coordinating volunteers to meet program needs, and prepares records and reports for the program. They will also interview, recruit, screen, and select volunteers, post volunteer listings at Malls to ensure continuous staffing, and maintain up-to-date electronic or written records of volunteers. The coordinator is responsible for filling volunteer shifts by calling individuals from previous lists and recruiting replacements. They will maintain statistics, placement, and follow-up for all Angels across various locations. This role involves communicating with donors about adopting Angels, assisting in assigning Angels to donors in TSAMM, and coordinating the preparation and pick-up of Angel orders. Additionally, the coordinator will assist with client interviewing and database entry, help with an appreciation program for staff and volunteers at the season's end, and contact Corporate Sponsors to arrange for their required number of angels and prepare materials for delivery. The position requires answering telephone calls politely, providing accurate information about the Angel Tree Programs, and compiling information for meetings and recruitment materials. Finally, the coordinator will evaluate the program's success and provide a report at the end of the season.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or G.E.D.
  • Two years experience working in an office environment (preferred)
  • Ability to meet attendance requirements.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language.
  • Ability to sort and file documents alphabetically and numerically.
  • Ability to operate various general office equipment including a telephone, typewriter, and computer.
  • Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail with constant breaks in concentration associated with answering phones or speaking in person to clients requiring assistance.
  • Ability to perform all duties with an understanding of the mission, ministry, philosophy, culture, and protocol of The Salvation Army and conducts all duties in accordance with the ministry of the organization and its Christian principles; conducts all communications and job duties with the highest level of professionalism.
  • Valid driver’s license

Responsibilities

  • Posts listings of volunteers at Malls to ensure staffing at all times.
  • Maintains names of volunteers at the Christmas Distribution or warehouse facilities.
  • Recruits volunteers to fill any unfilled time slots and recruits replacement volunteers.
  • Maintains statistics, placement, and follow-up for all Angels at all locations.
  • Communicates with donors about adopting Angels.
  • Assists in assigning Angels to donors in TSAMM.
  • Coordinates and manages the preparation of Angel orders for donors.
  • Communicates and coordinates the pick-up of Angel orders with donors.
  • Assists with Client Interviewing/Database entry.
  • Assists with an Appreciation Program for employees and volunteers at the end of the season.
  • Contacts Corporate Sponsors regarding the number of angels they require, preparing materials and angels for delivery.
  • Answers all telephone calls politely and courteously, obtaining answers from appropriate personnel if the answer is not known.
  • Provides accurate and complete information about Christmas Angel Tree Programs.
  • Compiles information for booklets, kits, notebooks for meetings and recruitment.
  • Evaluates and provides a report of the success of the Christmas Angel Tree Program at the end of the season.
