About The Position

The AM Server safely and efficiently provides excellent customer service and helps guests enjoy a positive dining experience. The role involves welcoming guests, guiding them through the menu, taking and delivering orders, anticipating guest needs, and coordinating with kitchen and bar staff. Servers are expected to communicate clearly, maintain a clean dining environment, handle transactions accurately, and relay guest feedback or concerns to management.

The position is with Olympia Hospitality at Hilton Garden Inn Durham/University Medical Center. The posting lists pay of $13.00–$14.00 per hour, plus tips.

Requirements

• Provide high-level customer service and communicate effectively with guests and team members.
• Follow instructions, learn quickly, pay attention to detail, and maintain composure under pressure.
• Be of legal age if serving alcohol.

Responsibilities

• Greet guests, escort them to tables, and present menus, specials, and promotions.
• Help guests select menu items by offering recommendations and answering questions about ingredients, preparation, and dietary restrictions.
• Take food and beverage orders accurately and enter them promptly into the POS system, clearly communicating special requests and modifications to the kitchen.
• Serve food and beverages efficiently and accurately, ensuring appropriate portioning, presentation, and temperature.
• Maintain clean tableware, glassware, utensils, and dining areas; replace or replenish items as needed.
• Anticipate guest needs and provide proactive assistance and refills throughout the meal.
• Coordinate service timing with kitchen and bar staff so orders are prepared and delivered promptly.
• Communicate guest requests, dietary restrictions, and allergies to the kitchen and help ensure meals meet guest requirements.
• Relay guest feedback, comments, and concerns to management for resolution.
• Process payments accurately, handle cash and credit card transactions securely, and present bills and receipts promptly.
