About The Position

Bloomingdale’s Alterations Associate supports daily store operations and helps deliver an easy and enjoyable shopping experience. The role involves sewing garments and performing basic to advanced alterations, including work on sleeves, backs, sides, collars, and bodices, as well as minor repairs and button replacement. Associates provide information about alterations services, respond to customer questions, and complete quality work on time and to customer specifications.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 1–2 years of direct experience.
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate and share information with diverse groups of customers and peers.
• Resourcefulness and the ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to work a flexible retail schedule, including days, evenings, weekends, and/or holidays.

Responsibilities

• Present a pleasant, knowledgeable, and positive attitude to customers.
• Explain alterations services and their value, and respond to customer inquiries.
• Sew garments and perform basic to advanced alterations, including alterations to sleeves, backs, sides, collars, and bodices.
• Perform minor repairs and replace buttons.
• Deliver quality work the first time and on time, meeting customer specifications to reduce waste and achieve profitability.
