About The Position

HOKALI is seeking six enthusiastic and dedicated Algebra Tutors to provide targeted math support and academic guidance to groups of 15–20 students in classroom settings across four middle schools and two high schools in Concord, California. Tutors will help students build confidence and succeed academically by teaching algebra concepts, supporting problem-solving and homework, and maintaining a positive, structured learning environment.

The program runs for 57 sessions from January 12 through May 27, 2027, three days per week between Monday and Thursday, with two hours per site per day. The role includes one mandatory onsite training session beginning December 7, as well as three hours of online training before sessions begin. Pay is $35 per hour for active program hours. HOKALI provides structured lesson plans while allowing tutors flexibility to contribute their own ideas.

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Strong proficiency in middle school and high school Algebra concepts.
• Ability and willingness to attend one mandatory onsite training session in December and complete three hours of online training before sessions begin.
• Proven ability to manage and engage groups of 15–20 students.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and classroom management skills.
