About The Position

This role requires maintaining and servicing aircraft armament equipment, including the upload, download, and testing of ordnance stores and devices in support of squadron operations. The services are to be provided at the O-Level maintenance on assigned aircraft types. The candidate will function as an assistant ordnance crew leader and a certified QASO to ensure all operations are performed safely and correctly in support of RDT&E programs. Qualification and certification on ALL T/M/S aircraft assigned to VX-31 are required. The position involves routine lifting exceeding OSHA standards, with team lifts of ordnance items up to 167 pounds per team member. Responsibilities include diagnosing, repairing, replacing, and rebuilding aircraft ordnance-related components, utilizing hand and power tools. The candidate will interpret manufacturer's publications, maintenance manuals, and service bulletins to determine repair methods, and inspect ordnance components for damage. Troubleshooting, removal, replacement, and repair of aircraft ordnance system components are also key duties, along with performing miscellaneous duties to service aircraft systems. As directed, the candidate may be certified as a CDI and must be able to prioritize workload to maintain schedules and standards. The candidate will maintain and service F-18 (Series) Ordnance related systems/components for Air Test and Evaluation Squadron 31 RDT&E Programs. This includes applying technical knowledge of Ordnance systems principles, evaluating performance of prototype or production mods, and recommending changes. Advanced technical knowledge is needed to solve Ordnance systems problems. A Phase Shop position may be required. The role involves repairing, replacing, and rebuilding aircraft ordnance and related components, and interpreting technical documentation. The candidate must be certified as a CDI if directed and prioritize workload effectively.

Requirements

  • Ten (10) years of experience supervising the loading and arming of all types of conventional ordnance on aircraft.
  • Three (3) years of experience within the last 10 years on similar type aircraft.
  • Must have been a T/M load team member.
  • Certifiable to adhere to conventional/experimental ordnance aviation ordnance loading.
  • Able to meet and sustain all physical requirements.
  • Must have completed AO "C" school.
  • Able to maintain all required Naval Ordnance management records to meet Navy standards for "O" level ordnance shops.
  • Routine lifting more than OSHA standards is required.
  • Routine ordnance loading will require team lifts of ordnance items up to 167 pounds’ load share per team member, in accordance with standard USN procedures.
  • High School graduate or equivalent.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
  • Must have a current U.S. Secret clearance and be able to maintain it.
  • Must be available to work any shift.

  • Be certified as a CDI, as directed by site operations and site management.
  • Correctly prioritize workload to maintain schedules and maintenance standards on assigned projects.
  • Maintain and service the F-18 (Series) Ordnance related systems/components.
  • Apply technical knowledge of Ordnance related systems principles in determining equipment malfunctions.
  • Restore equipment operation.
  • Evaluate performance and reliability of prototype or production mods.
  • Recommend changes to installation specifications to simplify assembly and maintenance.
  • Apply advanced technical knowledge to solve Ordnance systems problems.
  • Potentially fill Phase Shop position.
  • Maintain all required Naval Ordnance management records to meet Navy standards for "O" level ordnance shops.
