This role directs, coordinates, and monitors all maintenance and material actions to maintain aircraft, material, equipment, or components in a serviceable condition efficiently. The Maintenance Controller will have supervisory authority to direct work centers and personnel to accomplish specific maintenance actions required for the mission. This position requires an in-depth working knowledge of CNAFINST 4790.2 (series) and applicable technical publications for specific aircraft, as well as Special Projects / Flight Clearances / Interim Flight Clearances. A working knowledge of the Aircraft Modification Instruction (VX-30/31 INST 13050/1 Series) process is also necessary. The role involves releasing aircraft safe for flight, monitoring SCIR documentation via NALCOMIS, reviewing Aircraft Weight and Balance forms, directing maintenance to meet operational needs, briefing aircrew before FCF, reviewing FCF performance documentation, requesting cannibalization authorization, coordinating depot-level actions, assigning workload priorities, managing awaiting maintenance and material status, managing aircraft configuration, maintaining service records and logbooks, liaising with Quality Assurance and Projects Coordinator, understanding Navy Working Capital Fund, notifying government oversight of inspections, monitoring high-time components, establishing supply priorities, and coordinating maintenance tasks to meet flight and ground test requirements.
