AI Product Designer — Interface & Experience

Urban Ridge Supplies•New York, NY

About The Position

ISMG is hiring an AI Product Designer for its AI & Innovation team. The role will own front-end development and interaction design for a portfolio of AI-native intelligence products, including audience analytics reporting, an AI-generated daily cybersecurity newscast, and a sourced Q&A system built on ISMG’s conference archive. This is a founding design-engineering position on a small team, with responsibility for experiences used by security executives, ISMG’s editorial organization, and enterprise clients. The designer will take products from stakeholder conversations through deployment, conduct lightweight user research, prototype and validate workflows, and translate complex AI and reporting processes into clear, task-oriented experiences. The role will establish the team’s design system, maintain Figma libraries and design tokens, create a design-to-code handoff process, build with AI-assisted development tools, and deploy within ISMG’s Azure environment. The designer will also instrument products with Application Insights and use adoption and usage data to inform the roadmap, while partnering with the AI Innovation Manager and business units across editorial, marketing, and sales.

Requirements

  • 3 to 5 years of experience in enterprise front-end / UI/UX product development and design.
  • Strong understanding of user flows, interaction patterns, responsive UX, and intuitive interface design.
  • Experience with user-centered product discovery and demonstrated design judgment, including synthesizing user feedback and making evidence-based UX decisions.
  • Advanced proficiency in Next.js, React, TypeScript, modern CSS, and semantic HTML.
  • Strong knowledge of enterprise UX fundamentals, including accessibility, performance, responsive behavior, role-based access, and dense data or visualization.
  • Experience using Claude for prototyping and Claude Code with VS Code or Cursor to turn UI/UX requirements into production-ready frontend code.
  • Advanced design-system capability and expertise in Tailwind CSS, design tokens, themes, and dark mode.
  • Experience with cross-platform mobile/tablet design and implementing solutions for compatibility and optimal UI/UX across handheld devices.
  • Strong knowledge of WCAG, ARIA, and Core Web Vitals.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and a strong eye for spacing, typography, motion, responsiveness, and visual issues AI-generated code may miss.
  • Experience with GitHub or Bitbucket code repositories and CI/CD workflows for team collaboration and deployments.

Responsibilities

  • Own front-end and interaction design for the team’s AI products from stakeholder conversations through deployed application.
  • Conduct lightweight user research, prototype workflows, and validate designs with clients and internal users before and after release.
  • Translate complex AI and reporting workflows into clear information architecture and task-oriented experiences.
  • Design interactions for AI-generated output, including communicating confidence, surfacing citations, enabling review and approval or rejection, and presenting uncertainty without eroding trust.
  • Build quickly with AI-assisted development tools and move the output into ISMG’s Azure environment, including Microsoft Entra ID authentication, App Service or Static Web Apps, and Azure DevOps pipelines.
  • Establish the team’s design system, including components, states, data visualization patterns, and an accessibility baseline.
  • Build and maintain Figma libraries and design tokens, and create a practical design-to-code handoff process.
  • Design for enterprise needs, including role-based access, dense data, audit trails, exports, responsive behavior, and accessible interactions.
  • Instrument products through Application Insights and bring adoption and usage data into the roadmap.
  • Partner with the AI Innovation Manager on API contracts and data access, and collaborate with editorial, marketing, and sales teams on their needs.

Benefits

  • Continuous learning and professional development opportunity.
