About The Position

Contribute to a Wolof (Senegal) speech data collection project supporting the evaluation and development of AI technologies. The project involves providing spontaneous speech collected from real-life situations. Recordings, annotations, and related metadata may be reviewed for quality and incorporated into datasets for research, development, testing, and improvement of AI systems.

This is flexible, task-based freelance work performed remotely, approximately 2–4 hours daily. The project duration is to be confirmed. The stated rate is 10 USD per hour, and the start date is immediate.

Requirements

• Native-level fluency in Wolof (Senegal).
• Authentic pronunciation and strong familiarity with the target language through everyday use.
• Advanced level of English to understand written instructions.
• Do not imitate dialects or accents that are not your own.
• Strong attention to detail when providing annotations and recording metadata.
• Ability to follow detailed project and recording instructions.
• Quiet room or recording space with minimal background noise.
• Computer microphone or headset with microphone.
• Reliable internet connection.
• Ability to access and use an online recording platform.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with speech recording or data annotation projects is an advantage, but not required.

Responsibilities

• Record or collect natural, spontaneous speech in accordance with project guidelines.
• Participate in or capture speech from approved real-life situations, such as workplace conversations or casual one-on-one discussions.
• Complete individual or two-person conversational speech tasks, or participate in voice or voice-text interactions with an AI or machine-based system.
• Annotate collected speech data according to the provided instructions.
• Provide required information and metadata related to each recording.
