About The Position

RWS is seeking an AI Conversation Recording Contributor for an Akan speech data collection project supporting the evaluation and development of AI technologies. Contributors provide natural, spontaneous speech collected from real-life situations, complete recording and conversational tasks, annotate speech data, and submit related metadata. Recordings and associated information may be reviewed for quality and incorporated into datasets for research, development, testing, and improvement of AI systems.

This is a freelance, remote, task-based engagement with a flexible schedule of approximately 2–4 hours daily. The project duration is to be determined, and the listed start date is immediately. The rate is USD 10 per hour.

Requirements

• Native-level fluency in Akan.
• Authentic pronunciation and strong familiarity with Akan through everyday use.
• Advanced English proficiency to understand written instructions.
• Do not imitate dialects or accents that are not your own.
• Strong attention to detail when providing annotations and recording metadata.
• Ability to follow detailed project and recording instructions.
• Access to a quiet room or recording space with minimal background noise.
• A computer microphone or headset with a microphone.
• Reliable internet connection.
• Ability to access and use an online recording platform.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with speech recording or data annotation projects is an advantage but is not required.

Responsibilities

• Record or collect natural, spontaneous speech according to project guidelines.
• Participate in or capture speech in approved real-life situations, such as workplace conversations or casual one-on-one discussions.
• Complete individual or two-person conversational speech tasks, or participate in voice or voice-text interactions with an AI or machine-based system.
• Annotate collected speech data according to provided instructions.
• Provide required information and metadata for each recording.
