Aftercare Elementary Assistant
About The Position
Salem Montessori School is hiring a part-time Aftercare Elementary Assistant to help provide elementary students with a safe, welcoming, and engaging environment at the end of the school day. The assistant supports children through outdoor play, creative projects, homework assistance, and community-building experiences, while fostering independence, responsibility, and respect in keeping with Montessori principles. The role is part of a collaborative team and includes caring for children and the environment. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 15–20 hours per week, with available hours from 2:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Applicants must be at least 18 and have a high school diploma or GED. CPR and First Aid certification is required or must be obtained. Experience with children is preferred. Candidates receiving an offer must pass a post-offer background process, including a Basic TB and fingerprint test, and complete an online training program.
Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- High school diploma or GED.
- CPR and First Aid certified or willing to become certified.
- Dependable and consistent, and able to be physically and mentally present for children.
- Keen awareness and observation skills.
- Communicate articulately, respectfully, and constructively.
- Excellent organizational and cleaning skills.
- Able to be on your feet and lift and move.
- Must pass the post-offer pre-employment background process, including a Basic TB and fingerprint test, and complete an online training program.
Nice To Haves
- Experience working with children is preferred.
- Interest in or experience with the Montessori Method.
