After School Group Leader /Early Learning Professional
About The Position
AlphaBEST Education provides extended-day, summer, and enrichment programs designed to inspire and engage students as they discover and learn beyond the school day in a fun, safe environment. The After School Group Leader helps create meaningful after-school experiences that support children’s learning, growth, and well-being. The role assists with daily curriculum activities, prioritizes child safety, maintains a clean and organized space, and fosters supportive relationships with children, families, teammates, and school staff. The position is at Penn Hills Township Elementary School, 1079 Jefferson Rd, Pittsburgh, PA 15235. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Compensation is $20.00 per hour, with a $200 hiring bonus.
Requirements
- Enjoy working with children in a structured, high-energy environment.
- Take child safety seriously and follow procedures closely.
- Be flexible, reliable, and ready to help wherever needed.
- A bachelor’s or associate degree in elementary education, special education, or early child care education.
- An associate degree requires two years of experience working with children.
- A bachelor’s or associate degree in an eligible human service field also qualifies. Listed fields include social work, psychology, sociology, criminal justice, human development/family studies, counseling, mental health counseling, nursing/health sciences, human service management, and home economics/family and consumer sciences.
- Degrees outside the listed education and human service fields require 30 additional transcript credits in elementary education, early child care education, or special education.
Responsibilities
- Assist with daily curriculum activities, including World Languages, STEAM, Fitness, Maker, and Arts.
- Encourage positive interactions among peers.
- Make child safety the top priority and follow procedures closely.
- Keep the space clean and organized.
- Help create an environment where children feel supported and included.
- Build strong relationships with teammates, children, families, and school staff.
