Advanced Truck Technician / Mechanic
About The Position
Pape’ Kenworth is seeking an Advanced Truck Technician / Mechanic to diagnose, repair, and maintain medium and heavy-duty Class 7 and 8 trucks. The role requires strong mechanical knowledge, sound judgment, and leadership by example while maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and professionalism. The technician analyzes complex mechanical and electronic malfunctions, determines repair strategies, and completes repairs or rebuilds on major systems, including engines, transmissions, axles, steering, brakes, clutches, electrical systems, and air systems. The position also serves as a mentor and technical resource for other shop technicians, supporting customer uptime by returning trucks to the road safely, efficiently, and correctly. The technician works alongside other trained technicians in a well-resourced shop.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of experience working on all makes and models of medium and heavy-duty Class 7 and 8 trucks, including engine repair, electronic troubleshooting, HVAC systems, and chassis repair.
- Basic computer knowledge.
- Self-motivation and assertiveness.
- Ability to work under little or no supervision.
- Excellent communication and customer relations skills.
- Must provide own tools.
Nice To Haves
- Kenworth Essentials certifications.
- Experience with Cummins and MX software.
Responsibilities
- Diagnose, repair, and maintain medium and heavy-duty Class 7 and 8 trucks.
- Analyze complex mechanical and electronic malfunctions and determine appropriate repair strategies.
- Perform repairs and rebuilds on engines, transmissions, axles, steering, brakes, clutches, electrical systems, and air systems.
- Complete repairs with precision, efficiency, lasting quality, and attention to safety and professionalism.
- Mentor and serve as a technical resource for other technicians.
- Help maximize customer uptime by returning trucks to service quickly, safely, and correctly.
