About The Position

Yokogawa is seeking an Advanced Solutions Engineer to develop, implement, and support industrial automation solutions using Operator Training Simulator (OTS) and Plant Information Management System (PIMS) technologies. The role translates customer requirements into system architectures, technical designs, and implementation plans, ensuring solutions satisfy contractual, engineering, cybersecurity, and quality requirements. The engineer prepares and maintains technical documentation and performs configuration, installation, integration, troubleshooting, upgrades, testing, commissioning, and lifecycle support.

For OTS projects, the engineer develops and validates dynamic process simulations, integrates control-system emulation and operator interfaces with DCS, SIS/ESD, HMI, and other applications, and supports virtual commissioning and testing of operating scenarios. For PIMS and historian projects, the engineer designs and configures plant-data collection, storage, visualization, reporting, and analysis solutions; integrates data sources; validates tags and databases; and supports migrations, upgrades, backup and recovery, redundancy, and high availability.

The role also supports Windows desktop and server environments, Active Directory and related services, TCP/IP networks, and virtualized environments using VMware and/or Microsoft Hyper-V. The engineer coordinates work among project teams, customer IT/OT and cybersecurity teams, vendors, and global specialists; communicates status, risks, and issues; and supports technical reviews, testing, customer inquiries, commissioning, and training. Travel to customer sites is required as project execution, testing, commissioning, and support activities require.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering, electrical engineering, or equivalent.
• Six years of experience in process control systems or equivalent experience.
• Four years of working experience in automation, DCS, or OTS project execution.
• Working knowledge of dynamic simulation and OTS technologies, such as AVEVA DYNSIM, Aspen HYSYS Dynamics, Aspen Plus Dynamics, Honeywell UniSim, or equivalent.
• Working knowledge of industrial historian and PIMS platforms, such as Yokogawa Exaquantum, AVEVA PI System (OSIsoft PI), or equivalent.
• Knowledge of OPC DA/UA, DCS/PLC/SIS integration, SQL databases, industrial data interfaces, and plant information architectures.
• Working knowledge of Windows 10/11 and Windows Server administration and troubleshooting.
• Practical knowledge of Ethernet and TCP/IP networking, IP addressing, subnetting, VLANs, routing, switches, firewalls, DNS, and network troubleshooting.
• Familiarity with VMware and/or Microsoft Hyper-V environments.
• Understanding of process operations, control strategies, DCS/SIS concepts, HMI design, process dynamics, and process-industry applications.
• Ability to interpret P&IDs, control narratives, cause-and-effect diagrams, functional specifications, system architecture drawings, and related engineering documentation.
• Positive, proactive, solution-oriented attitude and effective verbal and written communication skills, including explaining technical concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.
• Ability to produce clear, accurate, professional technical documentation and reports.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement Advanced Solutions using OTS and PIMS technologies.
• Translate customer requirements and functional specifications into system architectures, technical designs, and implementation plans.
• Ensure solutions meet contractual requirements, project specifications, engineering standards, cybersecurity requirements, and quality expectations.
• Prepare, review, and maintain technical documentation, including design specifications, architecture drawings, test procedures, engineering records, and change-control records.
• Configure, install, integrate, troubleshoot, upgrade, and provide lifecycle support for delivered solutions.
• Participate in technical and design reviews and provide recommendations to customers and internal project teams.
• Develop, configure, integrate, and validate OTS solutions, including dynamic process simulation, control-system emulation and integration, and instructor and operator interfaces.
• Develop and/or support dynamic process models and validate performance against process design information and expected plant operations.
• Integrate OTS solutions with DCS, SIS/ESD, HMI, and other control applications; support virtual commissioning and testing of operating scenarios.
• Execute and support model acceptance testing, FAT, SAT, commissioning, and customer training.
• Design, configure, integrate, and support PIMS and historian solutions for plant-data collection, storage, visualization, reporting, and analysis.
• Configure and troubleshoot interfaces between PIMS/historian platforms and DCS, PLC, SIS, analyzers, business systems, and other plant-data sources.
• Configure tags and databases; validate data; test archive and retrieval functionality; and support reporting and performance monitoring.
• Support system migrations, upgrades, expansions, backup and recovery, redundancy, and high-availability solutions.
• Configure, administer, and troubleshoot Windows desktop and Windows Server environments, including Active Directory, DNS, time synchronization, file sharing, Windows Firewall, certificates, and application authentication.
• Configure and troubleshoot TCP/IP networks, subnetting, VLANs, routing, switches, firewalls, ports and protocols, and name resolution.
• Support deployment and troubleshooting of virtualized environments using VMware and/or Microsoft Hyper-V.
• Collaborate with customer IT, OT, and cybersecurity teams on connectivity, network segmentation, access, and infrastructure requirements.
• Coordinate technical activities across modeling, PIMS/historian, control systems, infrastructure, third-party vendors, and global Advanced Solutions resources.
• Plan and execute assigned engineering activities in alignment with project schedules, milestones, and deliverables.
• Communicate technical status, risks, issues, and dependencies to the Project Manager and appropriate stakeholders.
• Coordinate with global Advanced Solutions Centers of Excellence and product specialists to resolve technical issues and support project execution.
• Maintain accurate and complete project documentation for internal review and customer delivery.
• Prepare and execute test procedures and support FAT, SAT, commissioning, site acceptance, and other validation activities.
• Review and resolve Technical Information Requests (TIRs), technical issues, and customer inquiries.
• Troubleshoot application, operating-system, interface, performance, and network-related issues using a structured problem-solving approach.
• Participate in technical reviews, internal audits, and quality assurance activities, and ensure work complies with applicable engineering, cybersecurity, safety, and quality standards.
• Travel to customer sites for project execution, testing, commissioning, and support as required.
