About The Position

The Admitting Officer is responsible for efficiently and accurately registering patients seeking medical services. The role focuses on gathering patient information, verifying insurance coverage, and completing the paperwork needed for admission. This is an onsite position at The Brigham and Women's Hospital, Inc., with a scheduled 40-hour workweek on the evening shift. Patient care is not required.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Two to three years of experience in a healthcare or customer service role is preferred.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for interacting with patients and healthcare professionals.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy when entering patient information and maintaining records.
Familiarity with electronic health records systems and basic computer proficiency.
Empathy and compassion in supporting patients and their families.
Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion and professionalism.
Strong organizational and time-management skills to work in a fast-paced admissions environment.

Responsibilities

Welcome patients and visitors, obtain personal and medical information, and enter it into the facility’s electronic health records system.
Coordinate with patients and insurance companies to verify coverage and eligibility for medical services.
Assist patients in completing admission forms, consent documents, and other required paperwork.
Communicate with patients, families, and caregivers about the admissions process, required documents, and necessary preparations.
Protect patient confidentiality and follow HIPAA privacy standards.
