About The Position

Champion Care’s Administrator in Training (AIT) Executive Leadership Development Program prepares emerging leaders to manage an individual skilled nursing facility. The position combines business, financial, workforce, executive leadership, healthcare operations, and growth training. Candidates learn alongside experienced Nursing Home Administrators and operational leaders while developing the expertise to run a multimillion-dollar skilled nursing facility and help deliver exceptional resident care. This Knoxville-area field development role trains across facilities serving Knoxville, Madisonville, Sevierville, and Dyersburg, including Lyonsview, Monroe, Sevierville, and Dyersburg. Regular travel across the territory and overnight stays are expected. This is a multi-facility position rather than a single-site desk job. After licensure, candidates must be willing to relocate anywhere in Tennessee for consideration for an available permanent Nursing Home Administrator opportunity. Advancement requires successful training, licensure, selection, and an available position; placement or compensation is not guaranteed.

Requirements

  • Must qualify for the Tennessee Board of Examiners for Nursing Home Administrators training and licensure pathway.
  • Ability to lead teams, interpret financial and operating results, solve problems, and take accountability for outcomes.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset, strong communication skills, sound judgment, and genuine commitment to employees and resident care.
  • Willingness to travel regularly, stay overnight as needed, and, after licensure, relocate anywhere in Tennessee for consideration for an available permanent NHA opportunity.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, healthcare administration, finance, accounting, operations management, or a related discipline preferred.
  • MBA, MHA, or another relevant master's degree highly desirable.
  • Experience as a business operator, general manager, department leader, multi-unit manager, entrepreneur, or healthcare leader preferred.
  • Previous skilled nursing experience is welcome but is not required when state licensure eligibility requirements are met.

Responsibilities

  • Learn to read profit and loss statements, analyze budgets and key performance indicators, understand reimbursement and payer mix, and make informed operating decisions.
  • Evaluate staffing, scheduling, overtime, agency utilization, labor productivity, recruitment, and retention.
  • Coach department leaders, build engaged teams, create accountability, manage performance, and develop a positive workplace culture.
  • Learn skilled nursing facility operations, resident experience, quality assurance, survey readiness, regulatory compliance, and collaboration with clinical leaders.
  • Learn admissions, census, occupancy, referral development, and practical business improvement initiatives.
  • Travel regularly among facilities in the training territory, including overnight travel.

Benefits

  • Licensed NHAs who lead their own skilled nursing facility are eligible for Champion Care’s profit-sharing program, subject to applicable program terms; AIT participants are not eligible.
