About The Position

This is a temporary position with the Office of State Human Resources (OSHR) Division of Temporary Solutions, classified as an Administrative Specialist I (S). The agency aims to provide a solid Human Resource management foundation, responsible oversight, and creative solutions through a collaborative approach to maximize employee potential. The position is located at 1915 Health Services Way, Raleigh, NC 27607 in Wake County, with the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS). The role involves providing special assistance to the team through monitoring current service contracts with vendors and taking the lead on new requisitions when required by Comms leadership. The employee will consult with other DHHS departments (Contracts and Procurement, Budget and Analysis, and General Counsel) for additional support and clarification. This position may also provide occasional lunchtime and backup support at the front reception desk at DHHS Headquarters Building (HQ). OSHR supports the Governor's Job Ready initiative and seeks to expand a temporary skill set to enhance qualifications for State government and private sector jobs. Requirements

  • High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and two years of related administrative experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office tools, including Teams, Webex, PowerPoint, Excel, OneNote, Outlook, Word, and SharePoint.
  • Ability to present ideas clearly and effectively in written form.
  • Ability to adjust language or terminology to meet the needs of the audience.
  • Ability to use correct grammar, organization, and structure.

Nice To Haves

Responsibilities

  • Monitoring current service contracts with vendors.
  • Taking the lead on new requisitions when required by the Comms leadership team.
  • Consulting with other DHHS departments (Contracts and Procurement, Budget and Analysis, and General Counsel) for additional support and clarification.
  • Providing occasional lunchtime and backup support at the front reception desk at DHHS Headquarters Building (HQ).
  • Assisting multiple professionals with administrative and clerical support.
  • Effectively managing scheduling needs and meeting activities for professionals.
  • Supporting meetings, including managing setup operations and note-taking.
  • Answering phones, greeting employees and guests.
  • Assisting parking liaisons with occasional concerns.
