About The Position

This is a temporary position with the Office of State Human Resources, Temporary Solutions division. The role is classified as an Administrative Specialist I (S) and is located at 1915 Health Services Way, Raleigh, NC 27607 in Wake County, with the Department of Health and Human Services. The administrative specialist will receive DHHS training to provide special assistance to the team by monitoring current service contracts with vendors and taking the lead on new requisitions when required by Comms leadership. The position may also involve consulting with other DHHS departments (Contracts and Procurement, Budget and Analysis, and General Counsel) for support and clarification. Additionally, the role may provide occasional lunchtime and backup support at the front reception desk at the DHHS Headquarters Building (HQ).

Requirements

  • High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and two years of related administrative experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office tools, including Teams, Webex, PowerPoint, Excel, OneNote, Outlook, Word, and SharePoint.
  • Ability to present ideas clearly and effectively in written form.
  • Ability to adjust language or terminology to meet the needs of the audience.
  • Ability to use correct grammar, organization, and structure.

Responsibilities

  • Monitoring current service contracts with vendors.
  • Taking the lead on new requisitions when required by Comms leadership.
  • Consulting with other DHHS departments (Contracts and Procurement, Budget and Analysis, and General Counsel) for additional support and clarification.
  • Providing occasional lunchtime and backup support at the front reception desk at DHHS Headquarters Building (HQ).
  • Answering phones, greeting employees and guests, and assisting the parking liaisons with occasional concerns.
  • Assist multiple professionals with administrative and clerical support.
  • Effectively manage scheduling needs and meeting activities for professionals.
  • Support meetings, including managing setup operations and note-taking.
