About The Position

The main purpose of this position is to function as the Office Administrator for the Clinical Director/Chairman, Department of Medicine & Psychiatry, and the Medical Staff. This position is responsible for the operational and administrative activities for these offices in accordance with hospital policies, state rules & regulations and outside agency requirements (The Joint Commission, CMS, ACGME, MedChi, etc.). This position provides direct administrative support to the Clinical Director/Chairman, Department of Medicine & Psychiatry, and the Medical Staff by performing and coordinating the executive secretarial functions of these departments. Springfield is a patient-centered psychiatric hospital dedicated to the care and treatment of persons with mental illness within a safe environment. This position is an Emergency Essential Employee and reports to the Clinical Director.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
  • One year of administrative staff or professional work.
  • Candidates may substitute 30 college credit hours from an accredited college or university for the required experience.
  • Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer involving staff work that included regular use of independent judgment and analysis in applying and interpreting complex administrative plans, policies, rules or regulations or analysis of operational programs or procedures with recommendations for improvement on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.
  • Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland.

  • Experience/proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Suite and Smartsheets
  • Experience interpreting and applying regulations and Standards for Centers for Medicare and Medicaid services, the Joint Commission, Office of Healthcare Quality Assurance and Code of Maryland Regulations
  • Experience with credentialing continuing medical education programs
  • Experience with administrative and clerical duties in a healthcare setting
  • Experience delivering excellent customer service
