About The Position

The Department of Military and Veterans Affairs (DMVA), AK Army National Guard (AKARNG), is recruiting for an Administrative Officer 1. This position is in the General Government (GGU) bargaining unit at a range 17. This position is open to Alaska Residents only. As the Administrative Officer 1 for the Environmental Section with the Alaska Army National Guard, you serve as the administrative lead, ensuring efficient daily operations that support the organization’s environmental stewardship mission. In this role, you manage financial activities by monitoring budgets, tracking expenditures, and utilizing the IRIS system for procurement and accounting functions, while also coordinating personnel actions, payroll, and serving as the primary liaison with Human Resources. You oversee procurement processes, maintain inventory control, and track specialized environmental equipment to ensure accountability and readiness. Additionally, you support compliance by ensuring administrative processes align with state and federal environmental and cultural regulations, and you contribute to process improvement by developing and maintaining Standard Operating Procedures to enhance efficiency and consistency across the program.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of planning, coordination, and execution of business functions, resource allocation, and production.
  • Ability to use a logical, systematic, sequential approach to address problems or opportunities or manage a situation by drawing on one’s knowledge and experience base and calling on other references and resources as necessary.
  • Ability to prepare, justify, and/or administer the budget for program areas; plan, administer, and monitor expenditures to ensure cost-effective support of programs and policies; assess financial condition of an organization.
  • Ability to express information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); make clear and convincing oral and written presentations; listen to others, attend to nonverbal cues, and respond appropriately.
  • Any combination of preparatory post-secondary education and/or experience providing administrative support to a business or organization, business administration, public administration, finance, banking, accounting, industrial relations, marketing, human resource management, logistics and supply chain management, or a similar business field.
