About The Position

The Attorney General's Office (AGO) is seeking a highly motivated individual to join the Consumer Advocacy & Response Division (CARD) in Boston. CARD handles consumer complaints, advocates for Massachusetts consumers, and implements settlements related to consumer protection in areas such as debt collection, mortgage lending, housing, automobile sales, utilities, and professional services. The division also provides referrals, conducts research, engages in community outreach, and offers public education. This role involves processing and assigning consumer intakes. The Administrative Coordinator will be responsible for entering incoming correspondence into the AGO's record system and sending outgoing correspondence in response to public inquiries. Key duties include entering and validating consumer complaint data, preparing and processing response letters, supporting public records requests, greeting visitors at the Boston office, and providing general administrative support, including mail processing.

Requirements

  • Excellent computer and technical skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel.
  • Ability to handle multiples tasks, meet deadlines, and approach workflows systemically.
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively.
  • Demonstrated interest in public service work and ability to build rapport with people from different ethnic, cultural, and economic backgrounds.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree or related education and/or experience.
  • Knowledge of SharePoint.
  • Fluency in Spanish, Portuguese, Haitian Creole, or other languages.

Responsibilities

  • Enter and validate consumer complaint data into the AGO’s record system.
  • Prepare and process letters in response to consumer complaints.
  • Support the collection, review, and response to requests for records under the public records laws.
  • Greet members of the public that visit the AGO’s Boston office.
  • Provide general administrative support to the office including processing mail.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
