About The Position

The mission of the Louisiana Department of Health is to protect and promote health and to ensure access to medical, preventive, and rehabilitative services for all residents of the State of Louisiana. Join our team and play an integral part in the fulfillment of the Disability Determinations Services (DDS) by assisting with various support duties necessary for the DDS business process. In this role, you will be responsible for protecting and safeguarding confidential medical information according to state and federal mandates. This position requires independent judgement in making decisions in accordance with agency and departmental policies. Requirements

  • Three years of experience in administrative services.
  • Every 15 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as six months of experience.

Responsibilities

  • Aid the DDS examiners in access and receipt of appropriate, timely disability claims and documentation.
  • Abstract medical records requested locally, from the Louisiana Disability Determinations, or any other state’s DDS which may be providing assistance to the Louisiana DDS.
  • Ensure records are properly associated with the claimant disability files at the DDS.
  • Assist DDS examiners with case development as needed.
  • Conduct appointment reminder phone calls to claimants according to policy schedule.
  • Consult and work in conjunction with the Louisiana Medical Liaison Offices to ensure vendor/provider issues are handled appropriately and timely.
  • Communicate with Disability Determination officials any successes, problems, or potential issues encountered with organizations or individuals.
