About The Position

This position is located in the Office of Early Childhood Operations, Job Focus Area, at the Department of Education in Baton Rouge, LA. The Licensing team ensures the health, safety, and well-being of children by monitoring licensed and certified early learning sites. They consult and provide on-site technical assistance to early learning sites across Louisiana, working every day to ensure compliance with minimum standards. This role serves as one of two contacts at the agency to gather information about complaints and self-reported incidents for licensed and unlicensed sites, as well as providing administrative support to help keep the office running smoothly. Candidates with strong skills in Communicating Effectively, Demonstrating Accountability, Following Policies and Procedures, Thinking Critically, Acting with Ethics and Integrity, and Focusing on Customers are encouraged to apply.

Requirements

  • Three years of experience in administrative services.
  • Every 15 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as six months of experience.

Responsibilities

  • Review and process self-reported incidents from licensed early learning centers
  • Take phone calls from complainant regarding licensed sites and unlicensed locations
  • Answer incoming calls, route messages, and provide general information about the licensing process
  • Generate and update schedule inspection requests
  • Review Inspections
  • Support the Licensing team with everyday office tasks like mail distribution and general administrative support
