Gift Shop / Admin Associate I (Temporary)(Pasquotank)
About The Position
This temporary position is with the NC Department of Natural and Cultural Resources – Museum of History, located at 501 South Water Street in Elizabeth City, Pasquotank County. The role maintains gift shop operations and provides extensive public-facing customer service, helping ensure a positive experience for customers and visitors while following standards and best practices set by the department and the State of North Carolina. The position is temporary and does not offer leave or retirement benefits. Temporary employees who work an annual average of 30 or more hours per week may be eligible for health insurance coverage under the High Deductible Health Plan. Permanent and time-limited North Carolina State Government employees must separate from their current position to work in a temporary position, and temporary employees may hold only one state temporary assignment at a time. The stated hourly rate is $15.00, based on education and/or relevant work experience reflected on the application.
Requirements
- High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) diploma, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Individuals hired into a temporary state job must be fully qualified for the job.

Responsibilities
- Operate the point-of-sale system.
- Track deposits.
- Order inventory.
- Restock merchandise and keep displays stocked and neat.
- Maintain a clean, well-maintained, organized, and inviting shop environment.
- Greet and assist customers.
- Answer applicable customer inquiries and questions.
