The Department of Hospital and Surgical Health Services establishes the Government of Alberta’s strategic direction for health, including advising government on health policy, legislation and standards, and public health concerns; monitoring and reporting health system performance; setting policies and priorities for the electronic/digital health environment; and providing oversight and ensuring accountability across the health system. This position resides in the Ministry of Hospital and Surgical Health Services under the Finance and Capital Planning Division, Financial Reporting Branch.

Requirements

  • High school diploma and three (3) years of related experience.
  • Equivalency: Directly related experience or education considered on the basis of: One year of experience for one year of education; or One year of education for one year of experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience using ARTS, 1GX, and BERNIE systems.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Teams).
  • Experience working with HR, administrative, financial, or records management systems.
  • Knowledge of Government of Alberta processes, systems, and administrative practices is considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative and operational support to the Executive Director and branch leadership, coordinating correspondence, schedules, meetings, and branch deliverables.
  • Coordinate financial administration activities, including invoice processing, expense claims, reporting, budgeting support, reconciliations, and procurement.
  • Administer contracts and agreements by coordinating approvals, maintaining records, tracking obligations, and ensuring compliance with established processes.
  • Maintain branch records, policies, and administrative procedures to support operational efficiency, audit readiness, and compliance with ministry requirements.
  • Coordinate office operations, assets, technology, and administrative services to ensure effective and continuous branch operations.
  • Monitor and prioritize competing requests, maintain confidentiality, and provide timely support on sensitive and high-priority matters.
