About The Position

This position provides complex administrative and programmatic support for the Laboratory for Financial Engineering (LFE), its educational programs, and other activities. The role involves coordinating course and program administration, including timelines, communications, enrollment, instructional materials, learning platforms, and classroom logistics. It also includes providing support for the LFE faculty director with complex calendar, meeting, travel, and speaking-engagement logistics. Additionally, the position supports research activities, grants, and student/research appointments, handles purchasing, financial transactions, contracts, reimbursements, and account reconciliation. The role also entails coordinating events, maintaining websites, databases, mailing lists, and administrative systems, developing communications, marketing, graphic, and multimedia materials, and supporting other LFE projects and administrative needs. This is a one-year term position with potential for extension.

Requirements

  • High School education or equivalent
  • A minimum of three years of administrative, office, or related experience
  • Ability to anticipate, prioritize, and manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously
  • Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively
  • Accuracy and keen attention to detail
  • Strong interpersonal and verbal/written communication skills
  • Resourcefulness, flexibility, and adaptability
  • Demonstrated good judgment and discretion with confidential information
  • Excellent grammar, editing, and proofreading ability
  • Advanced computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office, WordPress, and database management
  • Ability to identify, evaluate, and quickly learn new technologies and applications

Nice To Haves

  • Experience developing professional communications, marketing, and/or multimedia materials
  • Proficiency with Adobe Creative Cloud applications or comparable graphic design, desktop publishing, photo-editing, and video-editing tools
  • Knowledge of SAP, Concur, and MIT financial processes, policies, and procedures
  • MIT or other university experience
  • Bachelor's degree
