About The Position

At the Louisiana Department of Revenue, we are dedicated to fairly and efficiently administering the state’s tax laws to ensure compliance while providing exceptional customer service. We’re looking for an Administrative Assistant 6 to join our Alcohol & Tobacco Control team! An ideal candidate should possess the following competencies: Communicating Effectively: The ability to convey information, ideas, and emotions using structured communication methods that promote understanding and engagement. Managing Projects: The ability to plan, implement, and close out project initiatives by coordinating people, resources, and timelines to achieve defined outcomes. Using Data: The ability to collect, analyze, and use data to generate insights and inform decisions.

Requirements

  • Five years of experience in administrative services.
  • Every 15 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as six months of experience. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 hours, which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience.

Responsibilities

  • Handle numerous administrative matters that include contact with the Governor's Office, Legislators, high-level government officials, and department management employees.
  • Compose, type, proof, and edit highly sensitive and confidential correspondence and reports on behalf of the Commissioner of the Louisiana Office of Alcohol and Tobacco Control.
  • Prepare and/or review correspondence informing departmental staff of executive decisions and matters of policy.
  • Perform special projects that may include coordination of activities for various committees, conferences, seminars and staff meetings.

  • LA R.S.15:587.5, 587.6 and the IRS require the Louisiana Department of Revenue to conduct a criminal history records check of a prospective employee who will access federal tax information to perform job duties.
  • Any applicant who receives and accepts a conditional offer of employment will require a completed criminal history records check prior to his or her first day of work.
  • If you are applying for a position using the baccalaureate option you may apply 90 days prior to receipt of your degree, however the effective date of the appointment cannot be prior to your graduation date.
